Falls Festival fiscal fiasco

The future of Falls Festival at its Tasmanian site is in doubt after government funding for the festival is left uncertain.

The doubt has arisen after festival organisers lobbied the government and were refused the $350,000 of support the festival was set to request.

Falls founder Simon Daly said that an average of $100,000 per annum of state government funding had been provided in the last 9 years of the festival, yet the event helped pump $150 million of spending into the state economy.
